Thanks guys.My brother has guns Im going to try out semi auto and revolver.I cant wait. One question I do have is about the IDPA matches.I read where you have to have 3-4 mags with you. What if you have a revolver? Can you still compete or no? Also can you carry a revolver with a ccw or is it to big to cover up.I really like'd the ruger I was looking at the other day.Stainless steel 357 mag w/4"barrel, rubber grips with rose wood inserts.Sweet gun. Woody!

Hi Woody and welcome!

You can carry a revolver with a CPL (legally) if you would like. Concealing it depends on your comfort, carry rig and clothing.

IDPA has classifications for different types of handguns. SSP (stock service pistol) does DA or DA/SA semi aytos in 9mm or .40 S&W.
CDP (custom defensive pistol) is for .45 ACP and 10mm 1911 type pistols.
ESP (enhanced service pistol) is for the single action type 9mm and .40 caliber pistols (e.g. a Browning HiPower)

There is a revolver classification! SSR (stock service revolver)
Barrels less that 5 inches. limit six rounds

Howdy and Welcome, Woody 1960. That Ruger is a nice model. Was it a SP101?

Nice choice. And they make a whole bunch of holsters for it, you'll have no problem finding one to suit you. I have a old 'Security Six' and it's a great shooter.
