I have been around now for about a month and have made a few posts, guess I should introduce myself.

I live near Lansing with my wife and family. I have recently found a renewed interest in firearms and hunting. Haven’t done much hunting since the early eighties. Last summer our 15-year-old boy has expressed an interest in hunting, so naturally…
I forgot how much I had enjoyed hunting.

In addition, a friend got me to thinking about CPL last year. I had thought about it before MI became ‘shall issue,’ but I never tried. Anyway, I got the training and received my CPL last Oct. I still don’t (can’t) carry everyday, but I do carry whenever I can.

I am glad to be a part of the forum. This seems like a good group. Hope I can contribute. I know I will learn a lot. Thanks, W

Thanks for checking us out. You've already done what I suggest all new members do. And that's take your time and look around.

We have a few members up your way and do Fun Shoots at Total Firearms a couple times a year. Hope to see you at one of them. And if you get down to Outdoorama be sure to stop by our booth (#625). We'll be doing the Safe Storage seminar on Saturday Feb. 25 at 6 PM. There's another great seminar at 11 AM Saturday for the kids; MI Kid Safe.

Thanks for the welcome!

I was a little vague in my intro. I guess I am never sure how much info I want to put out in a public forum. The more I read in this group the more I like it. I will fill in a few details.

I live in Grand Ledge (hence ‘near Lansing’). I am a member of the NRA, MUCC, and CASL (Capital Area Sportsman’s League).

I looked into several of the clubs around the Lansing area and settled on CASL since it is the closest for me. I may look at some of the other clubs in the area for other options in the future. I have been getting interested in competitive shooting. It looks like fun, though I don’t know how I would do.

Not sure if I will make it to Outdoorama this year, I’ll have to see what happens that weekend. Will try to get to a Fun Shoot sometime, especially if at Total. Sounds like a great time. I go out there often, though I have only shot at the range once. Guess that I just really like the wind in my face when I shoot, even in cold weather. Last time I was at the range I didn’t even realize I was cold until I stopped and went in where it was warm.

Thanks again for the warm welcome!:)

Welcome, fortysomething! Glad you could join us! If your wife has any interest in shooting, we will be doing some women's shoots and classes out that way as well!

Thanks, Fiddler. I will mention it to her. She grew up a farm and frequently carried a rifle went she went to the fields and hunted with her dad at a young age. Last summer we went out to the range with the youngest boy and shot my 22 rifle. However, lately she has been talking more about archery than guns. We will have to see if we can get her out to the range. I think she would enjoy it.

This is a great bunch of folks. I've been hanging around here awhile and everyone I've met has been real nice to hang with. Alot of useful information and knowledge comes with the territory. I cant reccomend Fiddler's classes enough and Deputies Knowledge of many guns he has I guess for the lack of a better term "reviewed".
M1911A's Historical knowledge on older firearms will leave your head spinning.

Im sure we will meet someday until then "Good Shooting"
