This deer was shot with a OMEGA 45 caliber at 218 yards. Smokepoles have come along way!

One BIG patch of color on that one!

Was it an albino? It looks like a normal eye color so maybe its not.

Hey, maybe I am getting oldtimers or sumpin like it but the article says that he went out in the -14 degree temperature and they are showing a hunter in a t-shirt, no snow and the grass is growing just as green as summer....whats going on here......

.....and now I got to go back and read the rest of the story........:)

Had brown eyes, and three brown spots. One between it's ears, and one on each inside leg. Like one shown in picture. Piebald! The picture for the story was taken this past summer, and the artcle was in November, December issue. 2005

Hey JC.....nice deer and one for the record books thats for sure.

Just out of curiosity did you have the deer mounted like that? and is it on display somewhere?.

Yes that is the finsihed mount. I had a problem with the DNR cutting holes in the deer ruining the hyde. So I had to mount it laying down instead of standing up like I wanted it. I live in Indian River and yes I do have it on display a sporting goods in Petoskey.

I remember when JC first shot this. A LOT of trash talking (undeserved I may add)

Deer is a piebald due to the eye color and the brown patch between the antlers. The DNR took samples of the hide for testing (mainly because of all the talk/rumors) and confirmed the deer as a piebald.

As close to a Albino as I have seen. Congrats JC on a deer of a life time.

I sure don't understand the controversy.
These deer are genetic mutants that should be removed from the gene pool.
Nice job of culling this one from the herd!

"a result of those accusations, the DNR – without a warrant or permission – cut chunks of hide from the deer when it was at the taxidermist, thereby defiling the cape. A laboratory test revealed that the hair was dark hair, and was not white hair that was colorized."

WTF!!!!!!

http://www.joesportsman.com/FREE_PAGES/Free-Level-2/Free-Case-Studies/Free-L-2-Ingersoll_Home-Page.phpWaa?? You, err, someone wants me to pay $40/yr for more info??? NO Way!! If that page belongs to who I think it does, I'm not the least suprised.

Don't get me wrong, I fully support you and what you're doing! It is just that I wanted to read the letters, etc, and was told to pay $40 to read 'em. I also know what you're going thru, as I'm getting ready to file a similar, but non-hunting/firearms, defamation/slander suit.

Best of luck in your lawsuit!

Roger
