UN Gun Grab: It's Back
June 1, 2006

The New American
"We must not relax our efforts to combat the scourge of illicit small arms and light weapons, which continue to kill, maim and displace scores of thousands of innocent people every year."
So declared UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan on July 11, 2005, at the conclusion of the UN’s Second Biennial Meeting of States to Consider the Implementation of the Programme of Action to Prevent, Combat and Eradicate the Illicit Trade in Small Arms and Light Weapons in All Its Aspects. That declaration of Mr. Annan’s is now emblazoned like holy writ across the opening Web page of the UN’s 2006 Small Arms Review Conference, scheduled for June 26-July 7 at the UN headquarters in New York City.
Eradicating the so-called illicit firearms trade “in all its aspects” includes eradicating the right of Americans to keep and bear arms, as guaranteed by the Second Amendment of our Bill of Rights. This has been made abundantly clear by previous UN meetings and documents on the subject, as well as by the statements and actions of IANSA (International Action Network on Small Arms), the UN’s main non-governmental organization (NGO) coalition of anti-gun activists. Thus, while Americans are celebrating Independence Day, bequeathed to them by the armed “embattled farmers” of our founding era, Mr. Annan and company will be plotting how to disarm Americans under the specious pretext of “international law.”
