I just stumbled on to this forum and from what I have seen I think I like it here.

I wanted to stop in and introduce myself, I live in East Lansing, but I am originally from Hillsdale County. The mountain.sarge thing is because I was once an infantry squad leader in the 10th Mountain Division (U.S. Army). I went to Afghanistan with them in 2003 - 2004. I am still in the Army but now I am a recruiter, atleast I am close to home.

I shoot every chance I get (which isn't much, based on the job). I have my CPL and I exercise that right everyday. OK I guess that is enough for now.

Mostly at the Howell Gun Club or at a buddy's house. Are there any places closer to the East Lansing area.?

Come spring, you might consider trying IDPA. It's a fun game designed for cpl holders, and gives you monthly practice. 4th Saturdays at CCRC, starting in March with the Classifier (basic test) and monthly matches from April to Oct.

For the most part I shoot pistol (Glock and 1911) and my DPMS M4 Clone. I am an active duty recruiter, working out of Owosso.

KayL, I have thought about the IDPA before, just never really taken the chance to give it a try. Maybe I will have to look into it this year.

PERFECT! Those are the favorites of a lot of IDPA shooters. (Except for me! ha) All you need is a standard belt holster, double mag carrier, and 3 mags minimum. More are better. Calibers are 9mm/.38 and up. Bring 200rds ammo.

For a "caboodle", you'll want lots of mags. Caboodle is a fun shoot with lots of steel plates. More like a shooting gallery. Bring 300rds ammo. You don't want to get caught short!

PS: You don't have to be a member to participate in any organized matches at CCRC.

Welcome mountain.sarge!

Do you have a first name? MS just isn't the best abbreviation. :-(

BTW, wear your body armor for the first time you meet Kay, otherwise her bear hugs might disable ya!  (MGO Holiday fun shoot thread.)

Yep I sure do have a first name, it is Clint. Hell I even have a last name, which is Steele.

I am going to have to do some more research on this IDPA, it sounds like it could be a lot of fun.

If you do come to CCRC, BE SURE to let me know who you are. I don't give discounts, but I do give good handshakes and even better hugs. But we have to be properly introduced first. ha.

According to my newsletter, the 'new' website is supposed to be mi-casl.org but it doesn't work. The old one does work, however:
