So, what do you like carry while you're out and around for the day or evening?

I like my Emerson CQC-7, my Arclite Cuda and once in a while my CRKT M16-13Z. I almost have a Gerber liner lock in my pocket that has a nice 2 1/2 inch blade that's just about perfect for everyday stuff. There's no model number on it but it looks just like the CRKT M-16.

Out hunting is a whole different thread.

So, how about you?

Sebenza is the name of an extremely nice knife made by customer maker Chris Reeve. It is often held as the 'holy grail' of good pocket knives.

Not so easy on the pocketbook though...

I used to carry a spyderco civilian but somebody stole it out of my bag at a paintball match. Now I carry an endura as civilians are really expensive.

The civilian is kind of worthless when it comes to any utility though. I don't carry a knife for self defense. A handgun isn't a very good defensive tool when it comes down to it, I don't see why so many people think that a knife clipped to your pocket and no training with it (and you would need extensive training to be a good knife fighter) is going to help them.

I'm not saying these were your thoughts Phelptwan, this is just the typical train of thought I see on a lot of knife/gun/outdoors message boards.

Spyderco does make some great stuff though!

the ciclian was designed to be use purely as a defensive blade i had one the first runs, it was fragile on the tip . it was good for hooking plants too,,,, and reverse grip fighting, but other than that is was pure CDI factor

I generally carry a Cold Steel Voyager. For the money it's very, very nice and they have very hard steel.

Yes in effective hands (say somebody with a few years of Karate training, and practical self defense training from a SWAT officer) it is a very effective weapon. Actually any knife is. Desanguination can occur in an incredibly short time with cuts less than an inch from the surface. Radial, Brachial, and Carotid are very close to the surface and can cause unconsciousness in a matter of seconds and death in a matter of minutes. When trained how to use a knife key things like these become your targets and a defensive knife is very effective.

I also carried a box cutter for those other tasks (I don't anymore because the Endura is more than enough to handle most box cutting tasks) as was already said...the Civilian was not made for these things.

Sorry to disappoint, but my plain old Case stainless Trapper has managed to do for me for 30+ years. I've had Benchmade and Gerber, but was not impressed enough to give up that old Case...

I've been carrying my old Buck 110 for 25+ years; it looks bad, I'm on my 4th sheath, but it still gets the job done!
Santa might bring me a new Buck Ranger this year, same thing as the 110, but a bit smaller.

I've also taken to carrying one of several Gerber Paraframes; a small 2" blade (5" oal) serves as a money clip/back-up knife, and a 3" blade (7" oal) as a daily/utility knife.

I used to carry a very nice Balisong, but it created more than a few problems with members of the law enforcement community; it now resides in the gun safe.

I have a CRKT Falcon on my belt and a swisscard lite I carry in a belt pouch. I also have a SOG mulit tool that I'm about to attach to my Camelbak. For field use I have a Frost Cutlery knock-off of a Ka-bar that I'll use until I either get a genuine Ka-bar or a Buck Nighthawk. I've also been kicking around the idea of getting a bayonet for my AR.

I like knives. They rank just below guns and just above flashlights for me.

Benchmade Doug Ritter MSK Mk1 for EDC. The Auto-AXIS lock system is the best I've ever seen, slick, smooth and lightning fast.

MKS Mk3 fixed blade in my "go" pack.

CRKT Kasper. Cheap, easy to carry, cheap, effective, cheap, reasonable quality, cheap, easy to replace, cheap, legal blade length in most locals...and did I mention cheap & easy to replace?

I love expensive and/or custom knives, but I lost an expensive irreplaceable knife once and swore that it'd not happen again.
