Thank you for contacting Wal-Mart regarding our concealed handgun policy. Wal-mart was founded by Sam Walton on three principles: Strive for Excellence, Service to our Customers, and Respect for the Individual. It is that respect for the individual that led us to create the current policy pertaining to concealed handguns.
The following is our policy: if a Wal-mart customer has been aearded a concealed handgun license by the state government, Wal-Mart will follow the direction of the state. However, if at anytime while on Wal-Mart property, that customer's concealed weapon becomes visible to Wal-Mart associates or customers, Wal-Mart reserves the right to ask the customer to either reposition the weapon so that it will not be visible, to remove the weapon completely or to leave Wal-Mart property.
With the exception of law enforcement personnel, Wal-Mart does not allow any exposed weapons to be worn or carried in public view on Wal-mart property or in Wal-Mart stores. Customers other than low enforcement personnell wearing or carring a weapon in an exposed manner will be asked to leave the property immediately.
We appreciate your concern and trust that this has addressed your concerns regarding this issue.

I'm sorry but why would anyone even ask? Open up the door to a situation that doesn't even exist?

And of course most people knew that anyhow since in Texas back windows typically have a 30/06 on display.
Documentation?

None needed... a lot of people will concur the truth to this fact. I have seen it on their law books.

I usually OC in Walmart. I have had inquiries by the cart guy while I was getting off my bike, i was asked if I was afraid of some young child comming and grabbing my weapon by a casher, and some times the greeters will say "hi" and stair at me as I walk on in with my leather jacket, cowboy boots and a high and tight. both times i was asked about it, it was very positive, and both seamed intrested in the actual legality of it all. as far as the people who stair, i just give them a pleasant look greet them back and continue on as though i had no clue that they noticed.
But I would like to add... don't ask. I would assume not know then know I'm doing something wrong. my policy is this; if you have no signs posted, I will OC, if you have signs posted I will CC or just not shop there.
It is my GOD given right to be able to protect my self and my family to the absolute best of my abilities, and no one on this green earth has the authority to take that from me.
I just noticed... was it just "carry issues" before... or has it always been "open & concealed carry issues" I am really confused right now!

A new forum was started for OC and some threads were moved. mod

My thoughts exactly. No sign - No problem. Leave it alone

I'm not buying that a Wal-Mart employee actually wrote that letter. It seems to me that a professional business letter would at least be spell checked before being sent.

Funny about Walmart though. I dont know if anyone has actually been on Walmart distribution center property, but you would think you stepped on to federal property. Ive never seen so many no weapon signs. "no weapons concealed or otherwise". and it has a photo of a pistol and a pocket knife.
I have an interesting question... Is it not legal to CC on private property with the property owners permission? (I'm not sure, just getting into the legal aspects of CC and OC in general, so I'm open to being wrong if so proven.) If that is true, then IF that letter is truly from the president of wally world, then would that letter be considered to have given CC permission by asking their customers to keep the weapon out of view while on the property?
Not that I really care one way or another, since as of right now I neither CC nor OC, but reading through the articles on the board, this kind of got me wondering...
