I know this is very short notice, but I will be OCing at the Civil War Muster at Cascades Falls in Jackson today, I will be handing out pamphlets to any one intrested in the legalitys of OC in our state. I would love to have some other people there with me. Either way, alone or with 100, I will be there.

Yeah, I ended up going by my self. Great experience. My father met up with me the last half an hour I was there, and just watched as people came up and asked me either what kind of fire arm I had or why I was carrying. I explained to them very briefly that it is our right to do so here in Michigan. Never saw a single LEO, 100% positive feedback from everyone I encountered.

You know it seams that as long as the fieance is not around it is alway a good experience. If she is with me some one starts yelling at me or calls the police. :jailed: So needles to say, she has a really bad taste in her mouth when it comes to OC.

Have you ever OC outside of hunting? You might try it sometime so you can better comment against it, good to know your enemies.

It was a simple question. Why do you get so defensive about it?

Chill out. He was just curious if others showed up or not, since the OP mentioned that he would be going alone or with others, and nobody had responded saying they were going.
No need to turn the thread into an argument. :stooges:

I am just asking a legitimate question, jeez, you guys "Chill out". Who dat has expressed reservations about OCing and all I wanted to know was, has he ever OCed. As of yet he hasn't answered.

I think you guys are adding your own inflection when you read.
Try reading the post out loud to yourself in monotone and see if it still seems "defensive"

Explain the part about "good to know your enemies" and I might consider it. Otherwise, that comment, like many others you vent here and on your OC forum are just :bs: to me.

Are you saying that I am your enemy?
Geez, here we go again. No.
What I'm saying is that I was following this thread. The OP said he would be going to OC and was going to ask others to come with him. He went, gave a report that did not include any other people. I was curious to know if others showed up for support. I asked the question, "Were you alone?".
I follow these discussions with interest, but when I get a challenge from people like Venator for just wanting details, it turns me against standing up for his cause.
What I'm seeing is an "in your face" attitude by a bunch of ill informed gun owners, (just go to the OC forum and read some of it), and then ask yourself, "What will the end result of this be?"
I think that we will all soon be required to have a CPL to CC OR OC. I do not favor more legislation, but I do wonder why the OC people don't just get a CPL so they can have less hassle. They are foisting this problem on themselves IMO.

When you post like you did, without fully explaining your post it is unclear, which is why I asked the question I did. I was unclear as to the meaning of your post..... sorry.
Yes Venator can be "in your face" as can many of the people against OC. It goes both ways.
As far as CPL's, I would bet that MOST of the people that do OC already have their CPL. I have my CPL, as does Venator, ghostrider, WARCHILD, Rogue9er, mastiff69 and Graydon just to name a few.
I only know of a handful of people that do not have there CPL and most of them are under 21 so thats a bit of a moot point.
It is a misconception to think that all or even most OC are in your face and ill informed.
What problem are we foisting upon ourselves? We are fighting for freedom, for ourselves as well as others. I think you believe this to be a bad thing, my question is why?

I can be in your face?:yikes: I never realized that. Sorry. I'll try to be less facefull. Just that some people bring out the face in me. I'm sure that if we all gathered around and had some of Doug's home brew and got to know each other this might happen:grouphug:

If you read the whole thread, IMO, you would have understood my question, even in its simplicity.
The problem is too much attention to a situation that can likely be remedied to the sheep's satisfaction by more requirements. Sorry, just my:twocents: .

This is very true! Some of the guys that come off as just cantankerous online, are the nicest guys when you meet them.
We just happen to have some very opinionated people who defend their positions fiercely.

And it is a good point. The thing you fear could happen, but probably won't if what is happening in others state is any indication. OC is growing nation-wide. Several states are years ahead of us in the OC movement and as of yet their legislators have not crushed OC.
And before someone says "yeah but that ain't Michigan", true, but a similar case can be made for the shall issue changes nation-wide. opponents of CC said there will be blood in the streets, etc. If they would have looked at what didn't happen in the previous 38 states before we changed to shall issue they would have realized that statement for the myth it was. While each state is different we can draw certain conclusions from our fellow Americans across the country. If there ever was a time to move back to the future (I'm mean way back pre-1968) in regards to gun rights it's now.

As many posters remain anonymously, my identity is not a secrect...for whatever that is worth. My real name as well as where I live and what I do for a living are on this site as well as several place on the OC site.
For those of you that want, you can see me with Jerry Brewer on his pod-cast OC show. I'm the good looking one in the middle. This show has a long conversation (about 10 minutes in.) with Gun Owners of America's Michigan Representative.

You know I haven't been back on this thread in a day or two as we have been getting my little sister signed up for the Marine Corps.
So I just got back and read through everything... I do not think I will ever understand the bickering. I try to do my best to come across with my point, in the least offensive way possible. And I am sure most of you do as well... The way things are read are not always the way they are meant. and well sarcasm haha! right!
As to who dats question, I am pretty sure I understood what he was asking and in turn answered his question. We as OCers I think have some of the reputation of a lot of the hippies... "Our war is right, and you need to like it regardless of what you think, I have the right so eat it mother f***er" At least that is what i have seen online, perhaps not to that extreme, but that is how it is taken. Yes there are time to argue, if needed. But arguing never did anyone any good, and only makes us(the OC community) look like a bunch of angry cowboys. I'm not trying to start an argument, I only started this thread to invite anyone who may want to join me to come out with me. It was last minute I think only 5 people actually looked at the thread before I came home, and I wanted to give an update as to how it all went.
It almost reminds me of the hatred between the branches of the military, when it comes down to it, we are all fighting for the same freedom, and if we don't work together, we die. In our case as Michigan gun owners, if we don't work together, we will lose our freedoms!
Stay faithful, unto death, never give up.

Well, i think it is to satisfy ones own understanding as well, to clarify what they may have misinterpreted. Like I said no matter how simple it is any one can mistakingly misinterpreted what you type... that is why laws are written so messed up like.
Ok, this is probably going to sound gay, but i mean this in the most not gay way possible....
If you are intrested, I wouldn't mind getting together with you some time... get coffee, walk around town on a busy day... ect... and discuss each others thought on OC vs CC. Let me know if your up for it you can do what you want OC or CC, I will OC.... but bring along an OC holster, if you decide you might want to try it.

:salute: I have a CPL for MY convenience. I am not the most sociable of people at times and as such, I don't always feel like explaining open carry to the ignorant or irritants. It allows me to travel how I please and eat or shop in peace when I'm in public.
And then there are times I do feel like expressing my philosophical position, or just want to dress down for the comfort, I OC.
All of my friends and family, whether they agree with it or not, know that I carry; indeed, most assume that I am.
Bottom line is that I will not tell anyone else how they should carry and I don't pay attention to how others expect me to either.
As we said in Uncle Sam's canoe club "Carry on smartly!":salute:
