"The Chamber of Commerce was all for the gathering"
"The Monroe Evening News will be printing an interview on this"
"John Patterson of Monroe county tourism and information bureau welcomes MOC to Monroe"
"Mark the owner of Cigars & Conversations @ 45 South Monroe's also welcoming MOC"
"We really need people to show up to this event. I received word, but not verified, that the Monroe Police Chief, the Fire Chief, the Major and the city attorney intimidated the owner of the Café (Saying she would lose business with all those gun nuts here) in trying to get her to not allow us to gather in her restaurant. If this is true, then the actions of these civil servants are despicable and an abuse of power. It is not the duty of the PD to intimidate private business owners into who they can or can't serve in their stores, especially when the concern is for a lawful activity.
The owner would not back down and said that business is down and if she made even $50, she would be ecstatic. A fallout of this is that the cigar store owner down the street heard about us and want our business as well."

Well the wife and i plan on going to the meeting, gathering, and we will be eating and drinking and spending money at all of the stores that open there doors to us.
I am sure that if they close her doors and cause the meeting to be cancelled that the political fall out on those individuals may cause them to have to look elsewhere for a job :piss: (just my opinion)

In fairness to DD and the benefit to the movement it would be a good idea to get some verification. You're using this forum to annouce the evets so some may be relying on these posts for accurate info. You could be stirring up anomosity towards the PD on a rumor that could be 100% untrue. You may find support in Monroe but if everyone shows up there with an attitude or if the PD gets wind that this is being stirred up then things may not go as smooth as they should. Good luck and I hope all goes well.

If you didn't want anyone else to comment or respond to your BS remarks you should have PM'ed Brian. This is what most people would do that have any sense at all.
You launched an unwarranted and unfounded attack on what he wrote and him personally. YOU drew first blood. I just returned the favor.

The event went very well, we had about 75 people show up throughout the afternoon. The business owners were very happy with our group and they doubled there normal receipts. They said OCers are welcome anytime in their café (they have the coney place next door too.). The attorney's talk on FOIA was very good and I think people went away better informed about the legality of OC and FOIA.
The opencarry.org site has a few photos posted of the event for those that want to take a look. Thanks to all those that helped put this together, if we could have more events like this all over the state then we would be that much closer to obtaining our goal of educating the public about OC.

An area that get togethers of ALL types (OC, CC, Shoots, hunts, political, ect.) can be easily seen.

Well, in the interests of effective communication---he might have cited the source initially or even after it was questioned but no.....he had to come up with yet another smart azz response instead. And, until you outed yourself as the source of the allegations (were they ever proven?) readers here had no possible way of knowing that it was anybody but him making those claims.

The police chief was in contact with the café owners. What was communicated was not confirmed.
I will say that there was and still are some behind the scenes dealings with the local government agencies. That's all I can say as a formal complaint and a MSP investigation is going on, not only on the café thing, but other things as well.

Anyone who knows me can say at least one thing about me, I'm fair and I know right from wrong. This is why when I'm wrong I admit it and this is also why when I'm right I will not let some asshat with an agenda or who is on some power trip get away with saying otherwise even if it means I have to get down in the gutter with them for awhile. I stand by my principals even when it's not the most popular thing to do.

You largely use veiled ad personam arguments to make your point. This is evidenced by the reports the message board staff receives regarding your behavior. I know you've been counciled about it privately. You apparently like to operate on the edge of the rules and are obsessed with having the last word. While I expect your compulsion to have the last word here will be overpowering, try to resist. In the end, the last word will not be yours.

You are the one that didn't want to talk about the OP but rather wanted to call into question the validity of the quote that I posted. You wanted to change the subject and cause an argument when there was none.
The proper approach would have been to try to say a nice word or on the flip side just say nothing at all, maybe even a PM?
Every time you comment in an OC thread you try to cause trouble and instigate a flame war.
If you just leave it alone everything will be just fine. But of course you won't because as you have stated in the past you can comment on anything you please.

If both of you added each other to your respective Ignore lists, you'd never have to read the others post again. Plus the rest of us wouldn't have to read 22 page threads trying to find out if anyone actually answered the OPs question.
I have tried, but as done deal is a moderator, he is unable to be placed on anyone's "ignore list".
