View Full Version : Women's CPL classes
Hey, I'm looking into getting my CPL and I was wondering if women's only CPL classes are a good idea or does it not really matter?
Either way, does anyone have recommendations for CPL classes in the Lansing or Metro-Detroit areas?

Honestly it really depends on your comfort level. But in my opinion it doesnt make any difference at all. Over the last 5 years I have taught both mixed, womens only and private family classes. When al said and done you will get the same out of the class. The comfort level goes away with you knowing your instructors are good at what they do. To be totally honest most of our women shooters do better than the men because they dont come into class with the "I know what im doing attitude". We have had women shooters actually make some men look pretty bad.
If you need a class there are plenty of nstructors on here. or you can just check us out at MiCPL.net. We will take good care of you.

I took mine at the Detroit Sportsmen's Congress (Rochester Hills/Shelby Township area). It was about 80% women, but I was still really comfortable there. They run two types of classes. A 3-week CPL only, or a 6-week NRA basic pistol, plus CPL class. I would recommend them anytime. What I liked most was while on the range there were so many instructors there to coach you through...their different perspectives and experiences made for a great learning atmosphere.
By the way, never once did I feel like being a woman made a difference. More than once I heard that it was easier to teach women, anyway. :)

MICPL.net will do a good job for you and isn't that far of a drive from Lansing.
If you want a class that is all indoors during these winter months, I schedule one every month at Fenton Lakes Sporsman's club in Fenton. We use an indoor range so the weather is not a factor in our classes.
Our next CPL class is Dec. 20th
For students without handgun experience I have a First Steps Pistol on Dec. 14th.
PM me or contact me through my website www.migunteacher.com if you want to register for a class.
