Greetings from the Grand Rapids area. I thought I should introduce some open carry experiences from the west side of the state.

I shared a nice lunch at Arnie's Restaurant on Leonard Street on Monday. We had a lively discussion on 2A rights and open carry issues. One of the participants has recently activated a chapter of Students for Concealed Carry on Campus (SCCC) at Grand Rapids Community College (GRCC).

We attracted a few looks, but nothing noteworthy. We were perceived as a bunch of folks enjoying their lunch meeting, and that's just the image we were hoping to project. Three of the five active participants open carried. We had one reluctant spouse with a young child who was a very good sport.

This was my first OC networking experience, and I found it very enjoyable.

I had researched Michigan's gun owner groups in May, and noticed the forum. Since that time I have been involved in a cross-state forum (OCDO) to discuss the issues in which I have been interested.

I have begun to pay more attention to the Michigan threads on that forum, where Venator12, dougwg, and ghostrider, and jmlefler all make regular contributions. I thought it would be appropriate to bring some of my thoughts onto the MGO forums. It looks like ghostrider and jmlefler might appreciate another voice to provide the west Michigan perspective on open carry issues.

They certainly aren't the only ones that might appreciate another voice....

Again, welcome.

Thanks, Dansjeep2000. It appears as though there are some great resources available here. Since it is such a large and diverse forum, the quantity and layout of the content is a little hard for me to adjust to. I'm sure I'll get along after I've given it some time.
