open carry "groups" in Michgian

The old lady is doing a paper for her college class. She chose to do a paper on open carry and concealed carry. Doing research she found that quite a few states have "groups" if you will that meet up for the sole purpose of going places while open carrying their guns. According to the research articles, these are regular family people, old and young, men and women, who do things like go out to breakfast, go to expo's and the such, with their kids and open carry while doing it. As a group, none have had a bad encounter, however, as individuals, most of them have been "detained" by police until they state that "they know their rights:deal2: , and their going to sue the city/ county police department" then each has been released. Has anyone heard of such a group in Michigan?

Okay you all knew Doug or I would be on this.

Yes there are groups of people here in Michigan that have done this. I have to take exception to your wording that most people have been detained when OCing by themselves. This is NOT TRUE. In fact of the thousands of hours people have OCed by themselves or in groups in Michigan very few have been detained by LEO's and only one arrest for OCing (later dropped due to preemption). As word gets out on the legality of OC, there will be even less interaction with LEO's.

I carry all the time except at work as i have a Union contract that says NO NO !!, i carry open and also concealed, in the last five years have been DELAYED once and that was polite, and the the officers were reeducated, as to the law.
I then went about my with no further interuptions.

And yes i do go to some of the Picnics, Meetings, Dinners, that the Michigan Open Carry Group have, as i like there thought processes.
