According to the Law, yes. According to law enforcement interpretation... who knows.

Now, I would think that concealed carry is a gray area, because the permit says concealed pistol license (not plural)

But there's no Open Carry license. In my opinion, you may carry as many guns in the open as you wish.

But I'm not a lawmaker or a law enforcer, so my opinion is worth as much as you paid for it.

I agree, there is no law against it so.....
I know when hunting I can take as many legal firearms as I can haul with me.
What in your mind makes it a gray area Dougwg ?

Personaly I don't really worry about it. I have my CPL and I carry 2

8.3b Singular and plural; gender.

Sec. 3b.

Every word importing the singular number only may extend to and embrace the plural number, and every word importing the plural number may be applied and limited to the singular number. Every word importing the masculine gender only may extend and be applied to females as well as males.

I know this is the open carry forum, but just wanted to mention that you can carry multiple concealed pistols with a CPL.

Here is a link:

southsidesportsmanclub.com/yes-you-can-carry-more-than-one-concealed-pistol-law.html

which includes a link to a PDF scan of a letter from Attorney General Mike Cox on the subject.

(Sorry, I just registered and apparently I can't make it a clickable link.)

Hello new guy,

If southsidesportsmanclub.com took care in reading the simple english they would see that the letter is from the Deputy AG and therefore hold NO WEIGHT. Nice try though...

and welcome to MGO where if you post something as fact, you better have your poop in a pile.

So an official letter from the Chief Deputy AG, on the Attorney General's letter head, in response to an official inquiry from a Michigan Representative, that starts out with "Attorney General Cox has asked me to respond to your recent letter" holds "NO WEIGHT"?!

Anybody else have an opinion on whether or not the letter from the AG's office (available as PDF at the link posted above) provides official clarification that you can indeed legally multiple-carry?

Correct, no weight.

We've discussed this many times here on MGO. You can do some searching if you wish.

Do you really think that you were the first to find that little tidbit? I mean come on... it's almost 2 years old already.

Heh. Good points! My bad.

My apologies for bringing it up again and not searching first! (And I'm someone who has been known to send links via lmgtfy.com to answer people's questions!)

I'll try to be more diligent in the future about posting without first searching... Off to try and find the prior discussions as I am quite curious as to why it holds no weight.

The AG opinions by law only apply to the agency or municipality asking for the opinion. Anything short of the actual AG himself writing the opinion is just the interpretation of an official in the department.

Even though the AG opinions carry no weight to other than the above, the court have been known to lean toward the opinions for obvious ease in their decision making.

In the Legal Updates sticky on our resources and links page, you can find a lot of interpretations of laws passed on to us by the MSP.
