Of course Im talking about trophy hunting. For you gals that are hunters are you just happy to be outdoors with your loved ones and friends or are you more into shooting game to mount on the wall??

These folks are my freinds Ryan and Sabrinia. She dropped that Impala at 300 yds with his 300 win mags. That rifle didnt have a muzzle brake either. She went out with us a couple of times and was such a good sport.

Hi Shooter . . I'm surprised no one has jumped on the whole "size" question.
Wow--those are beautiful animals, and I have no idea if they are an example of large or if those are average.

Well--since your question is about trophy hunting I'd have to say that size matters. As for my hunting . . it's not about size at all. It's about being out there.

I've been fortunate enough to have shot a few bucks--the antlers/skullcaps were gathering dust out on the work bench. Mr. Right Now was happy for me/my hunting accomplishment that he took 'em and mounted 'em on plaques, etc. (even though they're small--no Pope and Young's here yet). I would have never done the 'mount thing' with them . . but I'm glad he did. I'm glad he was kind enough to nurture my hunting interest (I'm a newbie).

As for your innuendo about size . . I just know what I like.

I'm not a trophy hunter. I put meat in the freezer. That's all.

I have a buddy whose entire house is a trophy museum. Every flat surface has something stuffed. Totally incredible. They are awesome to look at and I appreciate the fun he had and effort it took, and I envy his ability to travel to all parts of the world to hunt these beautiful and unique animals. But for myself I'm happy just to see bags of meat every night when I start dinner.

What 's the size of that smally ???? Where did you catch the smally. The last one I caught was about 19" and in about 21 feet of water.

Nice fish. I wish I still had my boat. I had to sell it to pay some bills down.

Nice fish. I wish I still had my boat. I had to sell it to pay some bills down. Lake St. Clair, I caught that one last year, the day before Mother's Day just a tad south on 11 Mile Rd. 7FOW, on a smoke tube with purple and gold flake. On a 4 foot ultralight rod & reel spooled with 4 lb Fireline, and landed without the aid of a net!
She was 24.5 inches and 6 pounds 2 ounces and my first ever 6 pounder:woohoo1: I should have taken a girth measurement as well but I wanted to get her back in the water. She obviously hadn't spawned yet with that gut she had, no way could I get both hands together around her.
If you caught one in 21 FOW on LSC, I'd bet it was post-spawn.
The bigguns are still in the area, but most of them are off the beds, the majority of the spawn was this week with the full moon and the water temps reaching the mid 60's. There are still some males left in the shallows guarding the beds, but in two days of pounding the area only one female out of the whole bunch. The females are likely moving off into deeper water and looking for a meal, while the males are highly aggressive right now. Lots of rock bass in the area as well making the males very territorial around the beds.
Fish flies are starting to show up in small numbers, the females will start gorging on them real soon. I'm thinking the best of the pre-spawn bite is probably over or close to it. Soon it will be time to look for weed beds and heavy cover as the males and fry start leaving the nests. If the weather gets warmer soon, it will be back to chasing them into deeper areas with heavy cover or structure, and the 50 fish a day will be over until next year.
