Still wondering what goes on at an "MGO Memorial Shoot." Also kind of wonder whom or what it's in memory of? And why isn't it mentioned on the site's front page?
Or is this a semi-private affair? Kind of like "If you have to ask, you wouldn't understand and you don't belong?" (In which case discussing it on an open forum would be kinda odd, but I've seen stranger...)

How does one get the special decoder ring to get the info?

2nd Annual MGO Memorial Shoot - Oct. 10th
October 10th marks the second annual Michigan Gun Owners Memorial shoot, held at Howell Gun Club. The memorial shoot was first held to remember long time MGO member and 2A supporter John (WhoIsJohnGalt) Johnson. Since then MGO has decided to make this an annual event to honor and remember fallen MGO members.
A local police chaplain will give an opening prayer at the beginning of the event.
Howell Gun Club is located at:
3210 Jewell Rd, Howell, MI
The shoot will be from 12pm-3pm, and an informal dinner will be held at a local eatery (yet to be decided). Come on out and have a good time, shoot some guns, and honor our fellow MGO members who have passed on.
It was in a different thread, Joey had linked it in his post.
Hope you, and others, can make it.

No need to appologize there Nick. I'm sure we all appreciate what you do for MGO a great deal. I was only thinking for those of us that do work six days a week elsewhere, that it may be nice for us to come out, with or without our families, to a nice day of shooting and/or picnicking ect.

Hey plan something up, I will lend as much support as I can to your event.
I like the idea, but, you will not likely see me, NickS, fbuckner, wwjmaj or Cherokee there on a Sunday.
Who knows, you may have a hit...a gun toting church that collects ammo to disperse to the 'needy' and we all kill and grill some meat. LOL
Let me know!

I know, I know. It tears me apart! Two of my favorite things and only one day to play. I would gladly miss a morning of football to meet up with a few folks and do some shooting though. Just get out early and you can easily be home by 4:00 for the second set of games.

First year going for me, but I think Ed meant they use the 50yd range and move up 25+ yards. I'm assuming most of the shooting will be handguns and SMG/carbines with it being that close. But I could be wrong. As far as how wet it will be, idk, its been raining off and on for the whole week down here.

I beleive we'll be starting out at 25 yrds and will move up to 7-10 as time goes on. Normally the ground stays pretty solild, but with all the rain we've had I don't think I'd wear tennis shoes! There are movable shooting benches. I am planning on bringing some balloons to add some dimension to targets. So try and get a little creative, however HGC's rule is NO Steel.
I'd also bring a folding chair and something to drink.
There is no formal course of fire. We'll be shooting bull and bullets!:)
And also remembering those that can no longer be with us.
Looking forward to a DRY and fun day! Hope to see lots of you there!!!!

Are there standard targets there or any for sale? Or is this basically a berm type of set up and we just bring stuff to shoot? Is there anywhere to mount paper targets for instance? Just curious before i make the hike is all.

Many thanks to everyone who came out to the Memorial Shoot!
It looked to me like everyone had fun. It was good to meet new people, see kids shooting safe and enjoying themselves, and shoot new guns, and it was really nice to see the fellowship around remembering MGO members who have passed. The weather was just great, a perfect Michigan fall Saturday, and HGC has a real nice facility.
Joe, thanks for the Aimpoint time, you've spent a lot of time working on your AR and it shows. SIDE ARM, thanks for bringing the watermelons, postban thanks for letting me try the shotguns and S&W .500 (that thing is crazy!), DetroitBiker thanks for bringing the 11-87 and the other .500 (still crazy!), and thanks to everyone who was there having fun and socializing.

It was great to see some ladies and some youngsters enjoying the time...and it was good to meet and share some time with friends. Unfortunately Beth and I were whipped pups after the FNRA and this so we slunk out early...and used her new Garmin won at the banquet to get us home for a much needed nap and time with the newlyweds. THANK YOU TO ALL WHO CAME, SHARED THEIR TIME, GUNS AND AMMO in memory of our fallen comrades.
