Happy revelation today,
I get home from work and the wife says, "I want to learn how to shoot." I felt like I must have come home to the wrong house:scratch: , this couldn't be my wife, my wife, the one who always gives me crap about the small chances that I would ever get attacked, the wife who doesn't understand why I carry no matter what I say, the same wife who is afraid of firearms and doesn't like to touch them even when I am trying to teach her to safely handle them (unloaded) the same wife who said "no way" when I told her I wanted her to learn to shoot to protect our daughter:gaga: when I am not home...well, apparently she had a scare:shocked: today. Nothing serious, she was talking on her phone when it went dead...she realized if her phone dies/breaks, she has no way of calling for help:help:, it would be just her and my daughter:gaga: against the bad guy:pityfool: , I can't wait to take her to the range:ar15: , I'm so proud and happy I want to marry her all over again

Good deal! Before my wife started shooting she would ask why I thought we needed another gun when I brought a new one home, now she asks what kind it is and wants to try it out a.s.a.p! :pump:

Smart girl! Get her a .22 to learn and practice with... then go out and let her pick which fits her comfortably in her hands. Might want to have a pump action shot gun handy.

I remember that glorious day in my household when my wife had the same revelation. She was out driving with the boys in the car and was approached by someone asking for money, as she left the market. No bigger but made her thin that if it was she didnt know he was there until he was right on her. Now she pratices situational awareness and carries a S&W M&P 9fs. She loves it, mainly for the reasons mentioned above. She was able to customize the grip. She wanted a full size so she didn't drop it in the "heat of battle" as she put it. It was a happy day for me since I know that when she is gone she and our children have some extra protection.

Congrats!
Don't forget to have a bunch of calibers for her to try after she's comfortable.
I still wish I'd had a 10mm and .45 ready, would have saved a bunch of mis-spent $$!

Pick a date and I'll watch the kid :salute:

yea she was like, don't make a big deal out of this, I was like, don't worry I won't...while on the inside I am bouncing with excitement, although I think she meant for me not to rub it in her face for always being against it, and I won't I'm just happy she opened her eyes, but for now, we'll take it one step at a time.

Yup....and play your cards right and maybe someday she will even get a blue card.
My wife finally brought one home yesterday but it was a long time coming.

When I first got married 32 years ago, I took my wife shooting for the first time. Before that the only part of a gun she'd seen was the muzzle in her face (she was robbed). We went to the range and my only gun was a Colt Gov't .45. It was a bad experience for her due to the recoil and noise. For 32 years I tried to get her to again come to the range with me (I promised her lower noise and recoil) with no success.
After 32 years of marriage, this year my wife said she'd go shooting. Not because she really wanted to. But she wanted me to join a gym and do something about my weight and fitness. She offered to go shooting with me if I'd work out and lose weight. So that's what we did. She shot a Ruger MKII Target model. For nearly 3 hours! She'll be going again. I lost 40 lb and still working on losing wt.
