Did anyone notice the new public high school opening in New York City?
It caters to gay, lesbian, bi and transgendered students.
I do not doubt that this school was created with the best of intentions.
However, I would think twice about hiring a graduate. I would fear that if my brawny dock worker uttered a word in error, I would be sued to the socks for discrimnation, a hate crime or some such nonsense. I would also wonder if a graduate could cope in the real world of work.
I think this school will be a horrendous disservice to the students. They need to learn to function just like we all do in a diverse society.
I guess that this school will just be creating the next generation of perpetual grad students and Berkeley professors.

Well one would only have to look at the recent UM ruling and say to them "What about diversity". Does excludin all the straights help your students learn in a diverse culture?

But does the HS 'cater' to the gays and lesbians, or does it actually discriminate against (not admit) hetrosexuals who want to attend?
Regardless, I wouldn't want to go there or have my kids attend ... :)

Well since we are creating a school for the non hetrosexual community.
I would like to see a pro-gun with the truth about guns school created for my children.

I can't help but feel sorry for the poor kids. What is going to happen if they try to organize an old-fashioned sadie-hawkins dance?
All kidding aside, this is just plain wrong. They don't deserve their own school any more than I believe heterosexuals deserve one. I wonder what the organizers would say if someone suggested making it mandatory tha all gays, lesbians and trans-genders attend this new school.
All of a sudden, we would be labeled bigots, homophobes, racists, whatever.
Somehow, the left never seems to understand that true diversity lies in the middle, and means NO SPECIAL TREATMENT for anyone.

I think those that point out the differences of others are indeed the racists, sexists, etc.
I mean I hear alot of gays, lesbians, blacks, hispanics, etc., all crying that they want to be treated like everyone else .. but then they create an organization that seperates them from everyone not like them... I just cant figure it out! :?
If someone tried to create an National Association for the Advancement of White People (NAAWP) .. the uproar would be heard around the world.
If you want everyone to be treated fairly and equally... stop trying to segregate everyone.

We should not have public gay schools, nor black schools, nor white schools. Everyone should be treated the same. Quite frankly, I really dont want to know what someones sexual preference is, nor what sex they were originally born as. If they want to be accepted, then they should assimilate, and keep their private sex lives to themselves.

On many campuses we already have dorms and dining rooms that are segrated at the request of the minorities.
All of this diversity serves to do nothing more than fragment our country into a collection of groups with an "us vs them" mentality.

Quite true! "Diversity" and "Multiculturalism" are nothing more than an elaborate "Seperate but Equal" scheme. In my opinion it only serves to aid in the destruction of the rule of law.
