The slide on my G19 sometimes wont lock back after the last round is fired.

I know I have seen this on here before, but I cant seem to find it through the search.. I dont know if it is still on the website or has been purged.

I thought I had heard that this is caused by a bad magazine follower. My followers are the 2813-1.

Does anyone know if this is the cause and what followers will correct this problem? Can I get them from any place other than Glock or is that the only source?

It could also be a bad slide lock spring. You can get one from the Firing Line - they stock Glock parts and have Glock armorers on staff.

could also be that if your hands are large enough or if you shoot with your hands pressed against the slide you could be tripping the slide stop yourself it happens quite a bit to me and others i know

Does it do this with every magazine or just certain mags?

Aside from what was stated above (and I proved Deputy's point earlier this week repeatedly!) your problem could also be the magazine spring.

A weak spring won't push that follower up hard enough to push the slide lock into position.

Hmmm.. interesting things to consider... hadnt thought of the spring .. I dont think it is my thumbs on the release as I usually have them up and out of the way to the left.. but I will check that out too...

I think it started with one clip then two out of my three.... but I cant be sure.. need to maybe do some observing and recording which clip it happens too... and watch my thumbs .. hmmm not sure how to check the spring.. process of elimination I guess...

Thanks for you help!

Likely the follower or the mag spring.

The M3/M6 light also causes this problem a LOT. Users are advised to switch to heavier mag springs to resolve it.

Joel,

Problem solved! You're using clips and not magazines. Switch to Glock MAGAZINES and the problem will go away. :P

Write magazine 500 times and this will go away!

One thing to do if you suspect a bad magazine spring is to place a single cardtidge in the magazine and lightly tap the magazine on the edge of a table with the bullet facing the table. The cartridge should remain secure. Be careful, though, not to tap too hard.
