Dumb salesman/insturctor

While at cabelas yesterday looking through the gun racks for a shotgun for a friend the slaes guy asked why would i want rifle type sights on a shotgun for home personal defense. he said that is a waste of time as he was an insturctor and says you cant miss with a shotgun just point and shoot! i just let him go on at this point and tell me how he tells people to jsut shoot through the window first then if they keep comming well then let them have it. i tried ro explain to him about the class and how certian sighting systems were not good! and that shotgun patterens were indeed different no luck there by the way his name is jack older guy nice fella just know wht the hell he is talking about, so any how i decide that i would look elsewere for the shotgun this is the kind of mentallity from untrained people that get others killed!

wheh, had me nervous for a minute there. I have a friend who just got transfered into the Gun Dept. and Cabela's last month. I was worried that you were talking about him. But his name isn't Jack so I am relieved to know that it wasn't him. As for the knowledge of the staff, most of the guys behind the counter are hunters and don't know much about self defense. The may get themselves a buck every year but they aren't too worried about goblins coming in through the window in the night. Dundee is a fairly safe little town, other than the one murder we have had in the last hundred years or so, and the serial arsonist who lived just down the street from me. Granted I am not taking any chances. I have a loaded 12 gauge standing in the closet, and my carry gun (G23) on me almost all the time. And the wife is a better shot than I am with her G17. :oops:
