View Full Version : What to do... Sell/trade/keep?

Back when I had some money (couple months ago) I was all gung-ho about building up my HK USC... dyed it black, ordered the new Top Notch M3/UMP conversion kit, threw an EOTech 552 sight on top, and also ordered a Surefire Weaponlight for the side rail (M962, Swan-lever mount w/ pressure switch).

To make a long story short... I placed the order for the light 3 months ago. An employee from the place I ordered it from (SableCo) was fired, and as a result quite a few orders were misplaced and not fulfilled. Mine just happened to be one of them. I got in touch w/ the sales manager the other day and he said he would make certain I have my order as quickly as possible (having Surefire ship the light to me directly, along w/ giving me some free merchandise :)).

Now I've been doing some thinking recently. Should I keep the light and add it to my USC and have it more or less complete? Should I sell it (MSRP of $420) and buy the Walther P22 I've been wanting (would like a gun that I can feed a few hundred rounds at each range trip and not have an empty wallet), or should I look to sell/trade it with my SIG P239 for the new HK P2000 I've been wanting??

Im somewhat clueless as what to do and need some suggestions. I like the idea of having a nicely built weapon (the USC), but also like the prospect of having a new weapon (P22 or P2000).

If you really don't want the light, I would sell it. I have sold and traded guns before to get other guns I wanted. Most of the time, it is a gun that just doesn't fit my hand well or is one that hardly use. I wouldn't trade the 239 unless it is something that you don't want. I sold a 229 that I liked, to get a gun that I thought I would like more. Turns out that I didn't and I regreted making the sale.

Personally, I think the P22 is pretty nice and I'd eventually like one. The P2000 seems a little overpriced. I wonder if the prices will drop once HK starts building guns in the USA.

Thanks for the reply

I really wasn't planning on selling/trading the P239 anyway. It belonged to my dad and now is mine since he passed away... think this will be one that I'll never get rid of.

You do bring up a good point that i mislooked... I too wonder if the prices will drop w/ the new Columbus, GA plant... *Crossing fingers* - - anyway, I still have a good 2 years until I am of age for CCW... so by then I should be able to find a cheaper P2000 if the prices do not drop.

And in all actuality, the light would merely be there for looks. Sure it might prove handy in a home-defense situation, however I'm stuck in college for at least 4 more years... meaning it would just sit in the safe for the most part. Might as well get my use out of the money and pick myself up the P22

:)

There is a subcompact P2000 coming out, so that might be a good choice. If you get the P22, you'll have to post a review. I'd be interested in your opinion.
