Police: Attacker killed after being shot by motorist

DETROIT (AP) — A man who witnesses say was attacking several people with a pipe on Wednesday was fatally shot by a motorist who apparently wanted to stop the assaults, police said.


The man, whose identity wasn't immediately known, hit several people before he was killed, Detroit police Sgt. Eren Stephens said. She said all of the injuries to the victims were non-life threatening.

One or two people in a vehicle chased the man and shot him before fleeing, Stephens said.

Police didn't know why the man was attacking people with the pipe.

You can't chase after a bad guy, shoot him while he was running away, and call it self-defense or the defense of others. If he's running away, he's not an imminent threat to any other person. :cry:

Careful there Jim... another version had the guy running away and then he turned and was coming back at them.

From the news reports I saw it was all random encounters. The way the story was laid out, the perp was strolling down the street carrying a pipe. Upon reaching contact distance with people he would only then begin with hostilities and was more concerned with then moving on down the street. It was like he was out for an afternoon stroll and was just quickly beating people who crossed his path while muttering unintelligible sayings.

Heck got too hang in there... What a month.. wrecked my brand new truck, re injure my shoulder, break up with the GF and take a 10 K paycut thanks compuware... heck what next....

Sorry to hear all this is happening in your Life.
At the time I had two FRIENDS die from CANCER.
Both younger than myself. One was 37yrs old, wife of 2 yr,child 2yrs.
The other had been in a wheelchair 30yrs. Both GOOD hearted MEN.
Both will be missed.
