Although both men were shot in the back, the women said they believed the men could have turned their backs to Mielke in the split second it took him to raise the gun and fire.
Looks like there are some anti-criminal thinking people in Alaska. They gave this man a break, I believe. Had this been in the lower 48, he may not have walked so easily.
This resembles the shooting in Detroit in one way, discussed in a previous thread about shooting someone in the back.
