All depends on blade length, I'd imagine.

Let me clarify a little. I've seen 'em for sale everywhere form Gibralter Trade center to gas stations. The websites I've ordered knives from in the past have no disclaimer stating that they are illegal in certain states. I even owned one in the past.
I wouldn't want one as an every day carry. I use lock back folders. In fact most of the good one start around 3" (legal) and I prefer knives 2"- 2.5" since I don't carry for defensive purposes. Strictly utility.
I've kinda taken a liking to the Microtech Dragonfly and was just wondering:
A. can I legally purchase one in MI for the collection?
B. is there any thing I should know about transporting such a knife if they are legal?

thanks,
Rupe

Well, maybe I'm wrong. It seems they fall into the mumbo jumbo about martial arts weapons and ability to open with hand, etc. I do know that a CPL won't do you any good with a concealed blade over 3", so I stay away from carrying the exotic blades. Good luck.

If you want to purchase the knife strictly for collecting I wouldn't worry about it. Personally if it were me I'd buy it if I wanted to collect it! The average citizen that isn't looking for trouble and isn't OPENLY flaunting the fact that he is breaking the law, by carrying it, is very unlikely to have the BATF or any other law enforcement entity raiding your premises looking for illegal knives that you are collecting. In all honesty though, I personally think that the antiquated laws for knives are actually worse than the laws for firearms! I collected knives for many years and never worried about the legal BS. A man's gotta do what he wants once in a while!! Even if our wonderful politicians like it or not. If you're trustworthy enough for CCW you should be trustworthy to collect any knife! Totally a bunch of BS!!!!!!!! But this is strictly my opinion nothing more. RANT OFF!! Larry

Butterfly knives are perfectly legal to own in Michigan.

I would be careful about carrying one with a blade pover 3" in length, one must be able to demonstrate it is used for purposes other than defense.
