I found this at the NRA-ILA site.
http://www.twincities.com/mld/pioneerpress/news/local/states/wisconsin/7238419.htm
Notable things I found were that Sheriffs could opt out of the program with a 2/3 vote of their county board members. This is really bad when you consider that supposedly ...Jeff Wiswell, spokesman for the Wisconsin Sheriffs and Deputy Sheriffs Association, said only a handful of Wisconsin's 72 sheriffs have indicated they are willing to participate in the permitting system. Concerns include the background check, which some sheriffs feel is in adequate.
And then ... Manitowoc County Sheriff Ken Petersen said he plans to ask his board to opt out of the program because he fears it will place a financial burden on the department.
He believes those denied a permit will take the county to court seeking to overturn the decision. Should the county lose, it could also be liable for that applicant's legal fees as well. That doesn't include the costs of hiring attorneys to represent the county.
Well, OF COURSE the law-abiding citizens will sue you, Sheriff Petersen. What do you expect when you subvert what they ought to be able to do.
