Duggan quitting and going to DMC?

Mike Duggan, Wayne County Prosecutor, is in negotiations with DMC medical...

That was on the News this morning....

We can only hope and pray he gets the job......... I don't use DMC.........

I really have to wonder what insights into healthcare financing and administration Duggan can bring to the table.

And Dan, I don't use DMC either but you and I and every Michigan resident are paying for the failures of DMC The costs of indigent healthcare are passed on to us through higher medical insurance premiums and higher taxes. If DMC fails the people who go there for care will simply move on to other hospitals (in fact they already are) and will add to the already overburdened emergency rooms whre they can not be turned down. They go there now for routine healthcare and the costs for that care are passed on to paying patients.

Harper Hospital used to be one of the top cancer hospitals in the nation attracting some of the best. Childrens Hospital used to be one of the premier pediatic centers attracting top specialists. Detroit Receiving used to be one of the best Level One Trauma Centers. One of the tramua specialists there develpoed techiniques used to resuscitate long term cardiac arrest patients. He is no longer there and the center is now barley hanging on to its Level One designation, in fact it may soon loose it.

U of M Hospitals are in serious finacial trouble as are the St. John System, Ford Hospital and others. If DMC fails the domino effect will catch all of the hospital in the State. All of us will pay of it in dollars and in reduced quality of care.

I was real happy when I heard that Duggan was considering leaving his CP job.....until I heard that Sharon McFail is a contender for his replacement!

I have to really wonder about Duggan and his ethics or lack of them. For example, he made a big name for himself when he went after the Doctors at Children's Hosp for supposedly not reporting a possible child abuse case to authorities. Now , lets' look at the archdiocese of Detroit and Cardinal Maida. Remember when the gave Duggan info that they had been withholding on reported sexual abuse by Detroit area local Priests. First it was "only" 15 cases and then it crept upward and upward to about 60 cases!!!!!!!! Why hasn't Duggan charge Maida and staff for not reporting potential and yes REAL SEXUAL ABUSE BY CATHOLIC PRIESTS ASSIGNED TO THE DETROIT ARCHDIOCESE. Maida and company has been sitting on this info for years and only gave it up when it got hot. Criminal behavior and no ethics. This is just one example. Think about how he handled Jerry Oliver's law breaking activities. Only pressure from groups like ours got his butt to barely move on the subject but I'm glad for our paricipation for Oliver's demise. I can think of no good that can come from his move to DMC and it will cost all of us mucho money The problems at DMC are at a level well above the CEO's ability to solve. I think he'll get involved to skim off his and his buddy's share before there is no solvency left. I can hear it now " we have to do this or that FOR THE CHILDREN AND COMMUNITY----THE PEOPLE" Now open your pocket books and hand it over!!!!!!!!!! I also work for DMC. It wasn't my option at the time. I worked for Sinai Hospital when it was stolen by DMC. Things went down hill from there.
