Group fed up with lead

Residents opposed to the Island Lake State Recreation Area shooting range have another bone to pick with the state-owned facility off I-96 in Green Oak Township.

They're fed up with the noise from the range, and now they're raising concerns about the lead being discharged at the site.

I'm also a member of the Howell Gun Club and live about a mile away from the grounds. The occasional sound of a rifle or shotgun is much preferred to that of sirens, alarms and news stories of burglaries, rapes, murders and robberies in the big cities.
