Plan would ban shooting on county land
By Dan Meisler
DAILY PRESS & ARGUS

The Livingston County Board of Commissioners will take public comment Monday on a proposed ordinance that would ban the shooting of firearms on county property.

Commissioner Richard Andersen said constituents contacted him about people hunting on 10 acres of newly acquired county property on Country Farm Road that contains a radio tower used for the county ambulance service and other communication needs.

The board will hold a public hearing on the matter at its meeting at 7:30 p.m. Monday in the second-floor courtroom of the historical Livingston County Courthouse at 200 E. Grand River Ave. in Howell.

(snip)

some work will be required to determine exactly how much land the county owns.

-------------

Why not just ban shooting 400 ft from the tower like the hunting rule for occupied buildings?

The plan was tabled by the board.

6 of us spoke on the measure - no anti's did. When there is an update, I'll post more information.

Dan .....

This was the first I'd heard of this.
If you get advanced notice of further meetings on the subject, please let me know .... I'd like to be there.

Check the Argus since Commissioner Jack LaBelle said he'd mention it there so the public can know. I should get a call from one of the commissioners as well if this is revisited and will post it here as soon as I hear. Bill Johnston who you may know is following this as well.
