2004 House Bill 6044 (Clarify CPL doesn't allow concealed long gun ):
Introduced by Rep. Edward Gaffney on June 23, 2004, to clarify that a concealed pistol license (CPL) does not permit the concealed carry of a long gun such as a rifle or shotgun, and that these firearms are covered by the prohibition on concealed carry by non-CPL holders.

Looks like the bill referenced here was introduced, and the person I talked to wanted no part of it whatsoever.

It was offered at the behest of a LEO who was led to believe by his prosecutor's office that it's not a crime. I believe there were other things going on. More later.

In my opinion, this is a ridiculous piece of legislation that only serves to further heap more superfluous, repetitive, unneeded redundancies on to an already over complicated and terribly thought out set of laws pertaining to firearms that we are already subjected to.

The above is my opinion only
My opinion and $1.25 will get you a cup of coffee

I am concerned that this language might be used against persons who carry cased, unloaded long guns in their cars, at gun ranges or clubs, to hunting areas, from hunting areas, or in the course of hunting.

Representative Gaffney has indicated he is no longer pursuing this bill, having been made aware of its unintended consequences.

Well done, to everyone who contacted his office.
