It's primary time again, and this is where most races are decided. With term limits effecting us each election, how can we find out where our candidates stand on gun issues? Incumbents all have a record. We all know that Joe Hune and Chris Ward voted pro-2a and Aldo Vagnozzi and Steve Tobocman are horrible, but what about those without a record?
What we can do?
1. Register to vote. The last day to register is TOMORROW July 6 for the August Primary.
2. Know our precinct. They SHOULD be the same in 2002 for the most part, but not necessarily. Genoa Twp in Livingston County redid their precincts because of school district election changes.
3. Find out who is running in our districts. They can be found here. http://miboecfr.nicusa.com/election/candlist/04PRI/04PRI_CL.HTM
Now how can we find out their views on 2nd amendment issues? How do we get them on record? Call their campaigns....
Every campaign has to report their contributions in their campaign finance reports. Every committee has a number.(Oftentimes it is their home number, so keep that in mind - I hate getting calls at dinner or 2AM, and I'm sure they do as well).
http://miboecfr.nicusa.com/cgi-bin/cfr/mi_com.cgi - Is the campaign finance database. If anyone is running a campaign, their information is found there - committee name, treasurer, address, phone, district, and party.
At the end of the month, their campaign contributions will be reported as well.
