This is the 9th district congressional seat. Joe Knollenberg is pro-2a and running again.

Reifman(who has a primary with Bart Baron) has this on his website. A lot of doubletalk here.

GUNS

I believe in the constitutionally protected right to bear arms. I also believe that we as a society must work to remove unnecessarily dangerous weapons from the street. Hunters should not have to worry about having their hunting rifles taken away, nor should Americans have to worry about being caught in the crossfire of an automatic weapon that has no place in our neighborhoods.

It is not unreasonable to ask law-abiding citizens to undergo a background check before purchasing a weapon, nor is it unreasonable to require gun manufacturers to place trigger-locks on guns to protect children from accidental gun deaths.

In 2002, Congressman Knollenberg received an A rating from the National Rifle Association. For the residents of Michigan, that is a failing grade. Extremism has no place in this debate. We must pass sensible gun laws and protect the rights of law-abiding gun owners. In Washington, I will do just that.

Sorry Steve, I'd be backing Joe Knollenberg once again if I lived there.

It continually amazes me that people like this get away with what is either gross ignorance or bald-faced lies. NFA '34 made automatic firearms HIGHLY regulated and Michigan does not allow full automatic for even those that the Federal government would approve. If there are machine guns in the streets of Michigan being used to kill citizens, the the guns are ALREADY illegal. And, just in case the candidate is unaware, murder has been illegal for quite some time now, dating back to before the independence of the nation. I seem to recall reading somewhere about a fellow coming down from a mountain with ten laws around five thousand or so years ago and, if memory serves, one of the laws expressly forbid murder. Perhaps someone either needs to inform the candidate of these events. If he is already aware of them, then by process of elimination, he must be attempting to deceive the constituency.

Sorry for the rant, I feel better now.
