TED NUGENT To Run For U.S. Senate? - July 18, 2004

Controversial rocker, outspoken conservative and gun-rights activist Ted Nugent is being mentioned as a possible candidate for the U.S. Senate representing the Illinois Republican Party.

"He grew up in Arlington Heights. He went to St. Viator High School," said Cook County Republican Chair Gary Skoien, according to the Internet Broadcasting Systems. "He has more connection to Illinois than Hillary Clinton had to New York, and he's been a very articulate spokesperson on constitutional issues. He would be a very interesting candidate."

The original candidate, Jack Ryan, left the race after allegations surfaced that he forced his former wife to go to sex clubs.

Nugent has yet to issue an official comment on the report.

Bad choice...............For the same reason the other guy dropped out. Nugent hasn't been the "stay at home" kind of guy an election looks for.

Not that I know of, but he's been with women other that his wife on more than one occasion.

Hmmm... you're right. In that case, he'd be a much more fitting President than Senator.

The Republicans in Illinois are getting desperate. They lost Ryan, then Mike Ditka declined; now they're looking at Nugent?

At this point they've lost all credibility . . . whoever they run isn't going to have a meaningful campaign at all.

I think to some respect if anyone could pull it off, it would be Ted.

As far as his fidelity issues, he's spoke of it many times, and has admitted his faults way back when he was married the first time. From all nterviews I've heard with him and Shemane, it hasn't been an issue during his current marriage.

Nuge forced his wife to go to sex clubs?

The difference is: It mattered what Jack Ryan did -- he's just a freaking politician wannabe.

But Nugent could run -- and win -- based on his notoriety alone ...

For crying out loud, can you say 'Jesse "The Body" Ventura ?? :)

I'm pretty sure he father a child with another woman not too long ago, while married to Shemain. I may be wrong about the child, but there was definately some wango-tango. (he spoke about it on tv)

He left Michigan for Texas a year or two ago when the addition he put on his home grew black mold and caused severe health problems for his family.
He was supposed to launch a lawsuit against the State and his County based on his contention that the building codes and materials used in new construction are what is causing the black mold problem. Haven't heard anything more about it though. Typical Ted.

As for the fidelity issues, he is no worse than Bill, as for the "stay at home" issue he is no different than Hillary. So. what's the problem. He may be as electable as the most popular Democrats in history.

Unfortunately, the Nuge isn't running in MI and I highly doubt he would run in IL. The only thing that I've seen from their camp is just rumor, and never anything official until, "I'm not running".
