was wondering if anyone knows what restrictions are placed on carrying a pistol in the woods during small game/firearm deer season? i am under the assumption that any centefire is prohibited which basicly leaves .22 as the only option. am i correct to assume this? also is their any restricitons on carrying a semi- auto?

ok I need some help on this one too. its my undestanding ( i thought it fell under pa 130 but it doesnt) which states you dont need a hunting lic. at all and may carry conceled as long as your not hunting game , my understanding on this also would include you can carry your normal carry gun ( 10 rounds and all) in the woods..

When I was reading "topcide's" posting it was really hard to tell if the question involved concealed carry or not. My understanding is that if it is concealed carry then no hunting license is required nor is there a restriction on caliber.
If "topcide" is asking about open carry or target shooting or general hunting then is is a whole new mess to talk about. In this sort of situation then during small game season any caliber can be used. During deer season the person should have a valid deer license to be openly carrying even if hunting for small game (with a small game license).
I spent yesterday morning running many different loads over a chronograph. It was on state and/or national forest lands and I definately made sure I had a small game license. Even if I did not need one to do target shooting it just seems the $15 spent is much simpler than trying to explain everything to some CO.
