    Hunting Fatality

    http://www.myfoxdetroit.com/story/19...ent-thumb-area

Hunter sees something moving in bush at 150 yards and takes a shot.

I hope justice prevails. This was a dumbass mistake on the hunters part.

I must have missed the opening of deer season since the fatality was hunting deer. Sad story.

if the early season would just be moved up til august... this would not happen..

idiots that allow youth hunters to go unsupervised, are usually all "surprised" by this type of event...

The shooter was coyote hunting. It seems to me that if you are 17 or 71 you should be able to walk where you want with out being shot.

    Unhappy

As a HS Instructor, reading this story makes me want to throw up.

The three cardinal rules of gun safety are drilled into students time and time again during the HS classes. The shooter committed murder in my opinion.
Wish I was on his jury.

News organizations are still reporting it as a HUNITING accident. Only problem with that is they're now questioning whether the shooter had permission to hunt the private property but not questioning whether the victim had a hunting license or even mention that it's NOT deer hunting season yet.

Maybe the young man was "hunting" for deer sign, maybe "hunting" deer with a camera...maybe he was just scouting. Maybe he was hunting small game? does it really matter?

Regardless, my sincere condolences to the family that have to bury their son.

well my dad let me loose when I was 9 and no problems developed.... course it was dove with a breach .410 with 8 shot not entirely sure I could accidentally kill someone with it.... in fact its darn near impossible.

I ended up loose with a rifle by the time I was 15 shooting hogs over 400m on private property never had a problem.

Early antlerless deer season was 22-23 September. I think it overlaps the "youth hunter" season. I was out in the woods too. Shot 1 doe on Saturday and another this morning.

Everyone who is HUNTING has to wear hunter orange, but that does not stop idiots from shooting at anything they want. Given that the safety training is MANDATORY and that you are tested afterwards, anyone who violates those safety rules should be subject to criminal prosecution.

Owning and using weapons carries the burden of responsibility to ensure that they are used safely and on the intended game..
