    .223/5.56 range ammo

I am looking for ammo that I can use at an indoor range. I see all of these designations on the ammo for sale, M193, M885, SS109, etc. I do not know what these mean. Where can I learn these and what is legit to shoot indoor?

    Thanks!

M193 is fine to shoot indoors. Its non-magnetic, 55gr FMJ. XM193 is seconds, almost always because it doesn't look as clean as it should. Fires exactly the same, though.

M855, or green tips, have a steel core and won't be used indoors. Xm855 is the exactly same just doesn't look as nice.

I believe, SS109 is the same as M855, just Winchesters version. Same with Q3131, I think it's the same as M193, but Winchesters version. M193 and M855 are Federals.

Anything you find with a Bi-metal jacket (usually foreign brands) will be magnetic, and won't be allowed indoors.
