    Nothing!

This is a restriction on "Government Employees" as defined within this bill, and then gives them a "work around" in cases of "suspected" child abuse or endangerment.

The intent is good, the execution is dismal.

Like Snyder would ever sign a bill that limits the size or scope of government.

School teachers are required to report abuse or neglect. this bill enables them to ask questions if they believe there is abuse or neglect - as long as they believe that being around guns is abuse or neglect.
I would bet you that plenty of teachers believe that just TALKING about guns could be considered abuse. And a kid potentially getting access to one - well that's neglect.

    This bill does nothing

Considering that there are no penalties attached for violating it, the bill itself is meaningless.

And this bill, if passed would have no affect on the behavior of those not employed by the State.

Drs, Nurses, and Hospitals will still ask them. It is better to teach the children how to NOT answer and refer them to their parents.

So this is another meaningless bill being pushed because this is an election year to make people feel good. "look I did something." I've not yet read it myself but I already hate it.

We already know that we will get nothing meaningful from Snyder. He isn't running again and doesn't need/want our support. If the GOP leadership had the will to do something meaningful for us, they would have done it already.

    Like they promised.

Our only chance is if there are enough pro gun legislators that can trade votes for tax increases and spending surges in exchange for favorable amendments. We'll have to wait until after the election to see if there are enough pro gun legislators to get that accomplished. I have a feeling that new leadership in the house next year will be a little more freedom loving than our current leadership. The senate has been a bigger road block to pro gun Michiganders and we will be stuck with the same big government types in leadership. Don't expect any help from the senate for at least two more years.

We're kinda just screwed for right now.
