Civil rights; open meetings; school board preventive security planning; provide exemption in open meetings act. Amends sec. 8 of 1976 PA 267 (MCL 15.26.

The whole concept of the "open meeting act" was because governing groups like this could not be trusted. I can understand not wanting to advertise security measures, or the lack of them, but something that needs secrecy as a portion of the effort to protect, is a shaky plan at best. But what would you expect from a D from Westland.Sec. 8. A public body may meet in a closed session only for the following purposes:

(k) For a school board to consider security planning to address existing threats or prevent potential threats to the safety of the students and staff.
So, I vote HELL NO!

So they don't want us parents involved in these school security meetings? No input from parents, no oversight by the citizenry that it directly affects?
Ridiculous.
