December BOD Meeting & Holiday Fun Shoot / Firingline Westland 12-15-2017

A little early for this posting, we just want to get this out there for the time & date so everybody has lead time to plan to attend.

December Board of Directors Meeting & Holiday Fun Shoot DECEMBER MEETING....... Friday December 15th, 2017 at the Firingline in Westland.

The Firing Line is located at:

33000 Ford Road, Westland, MI 48185
    (North Side of Ford Rd)
    Just West of Venoy

    Firingline waver -Range rules.pdf

    Website - http://www.firinglineguns.com/home.html

Board Meeting Starts at 4:00 p.m........Raffles, Gun of The Year, and door prize give outs to be completed by 5:45 p.m., Safety Briefing at 5:45 p.m. Range time goes from 6:00 p.m. til 8:00 p.m. We have 8 pistol Lanes and 1 Rifle Lane, more if needed.

In addition to the Mystery Gun - Volunteer gun of the year drawing,

There will be a raffle for a M&P 2.0 pistol & 2 more prizes drawn at the meeting - tickets are now available Please see details in the separate Raffle thread in the "Events Announcements " section All Proceeds go to the Legal Fund.

B4K Banquet tickets for two tables will be drawn at this meeting - new this year -one table ( 5 pair of tickets ) will be drawn from a thread in the members only section ( this thread is now posted ) you need not be present to win & there are a few details / rules that are posted in that thread as well.

The online entry for B4K tickets will close on 12-14-2017 at midnight.

The next table ( 5 pair of tickets ) will be drawn from those MGO members attending in person -yes you must be present for this round of tickets to win.

Because it will be asked - yes you can enter online -in case you are not sure if you can make the meeting - if you DO decide to attend and have entered online, you are still eligible for the in person drawing, separate in person entry required.
However only one pair of tickets will awarded per paying* MGO member.

*So this includes ALL full MGO members - win, gifted, paid memberships - How do you know if you are a full member? you have a MGO membership card! & are listed in the official membership roll as kept by the membership chairman.

All attending will be eligible for door prize drawings.

As always this is a family friendly event all are welcome to attend -there is no charge & you need not be a member.

Bringing a Holiday treat to share /pass around is always welcome, but not required.

This meeting is always a fun time. I plan to be there.

All I ask is, please ask the weather gods to provide good weather this time around - the last couple of meetings I had an ice storm to drive through.

So if my son, a paying member wins and decides to take his girlfriend, then my wife (also a paying member) is ineligible? And I, a member in good standing, am ineligible just because some other independent paying member in my household won?

These are individual memberships and not family memberships. How can you deem one member ineligible because of the success of another?

This wasn't well thought out and doesn't have the best interest of all members in mind.

    I'm calling shenanigans.
I think Ashleigh Brilliant is amazing. This is one of his Pot Shots that I like. I have several of his books and miss the days when he was in the paper ....Watch out!.It's quite possible that some of my best mistakes haven't yet been made.

As the "official" thread with the rules has not yet been posted for the B4K drawing, I suggest this question for clarification should be addressed to the those making up the rules i.e. the BOD, not the messenger.

I only addressed the particular rules that you posted.

I'm sure that some of the BOD has read this and will see the error here.

Frankly, it is surprising that the messenger didn't see the trouble before posting it and pose the question himself.

To be fair, there are many, MANY contests with the same rule…if not limiting ENTRIES to XX per household.
Additionally, I read it and nothing jumped-out as "wrong" to me. Saying SeeTee should have caught it is not right. As he said, he is just the messenger!

I would venture a guess that most MGO Member households do not have more than 2 Members, and by far, the greater majority have only one.
That said, I'm betting that the intent was NOT to do what you are suggesting (prohibit 2 "couples" from the same household from winning), rather, it was simply meant to say that if someone enters both the online and the in-person drawings, they can only win once.

At least those that cannot attend the in-person drawing have a chance.
Those that can attend have 2 chances.

Why turn a good thing into something "bad"? Again, I'm betting that nobody considered the idea that there could be 2 couples from the same household until you brought it up.

I assure everyone that SeeTee nor the Board, had/has any intentions to screw anyone out of a chance at winning a spot at a table for this event.

We are in a discussion currently and will release our findings in a day or two.

Again, We apologize for any confusion this has created, again, our intention was not to minimize nor maximize anyone's chances in the drawing, but only to increase everyone's chances of Attending said Event!

That's true - but to be fair, those contests are generally free to the public and do not require a paid membership.

I can see where he may have thought I was sounding the alarm to him, but I realize his role and responsibilities. I posted to a forum for all to see, not a private message to him. Posting here made much more sense than starting a new thread (to me, anyway.)

What's "bad?" Just trying to point out where an org should make it better.

Any updates or hints on the "Mystery Gun" that I will be winning?
