Zore - A New Generation of Gun Storage

Just curious what everyone thinks of this or has seen it before. The Ohio third grader that got a hold of a gun and brought it to school that other day made me think of this and many other methods of proper gun storage.

A child, or anyone else unauthorized, getting a hold of a gun is an irresponsible gun owner issue. IMO, another new device isn't going to solve that problem. No more than banning high capacity mags to solve mass murders.

    Fix the problem.

    IMO, YMMV.

Treat the cause, not the symptom
Now, we must all fear evil men. But there is another kind of evil which we must fear most, and that is the indifference of good men.

A gimmicky device that does the same as a cable lock would do for a pistol, with a bunch of unneeded features.

Not needed for any real applications.

The 3 responses above me pretty much sum it all up for me.

In the video, it says the unlocked mode gives you a tamper alert from anywhere in the world. Trouble is, you just rack the slide to remove it. Your gun could be long gone or have already been used to shoot someone by the time you can do anything about it. The locked mode seems no quicker than a fast access safe other than the added benefit of being able to put the gun anywhere and not have to get to the safe. That said, why not just carry the gun on you? A holstered gun beats this device for speed and access, and a safe beats it for theft prevention. It's not much of a theft deterrent if you see a gun lying around, with or without a lock device. Unless the thing has GPS, a person can just steal the gun and lock and figure out a way to remove it later in the safety of his own workshop with all the tools and time in the world.

    You can't.

You cannot legislate intelligence, you cannot legislate common sense, you cannot legislate personal responsibility. All you can do is legislate hefty fines and jail time as a deterrent factor and reduce the problem via fear compliance. Like seatbelt laws.
