Titanium Nitride (TiN) - Barrel Coating question

I happened across an outfit not far from us in Ohio that offers barrel coatings. Has anyone looked into or had their barrel TiN coated? Seems like a fairly modest investment to make with good return.

I have had a couple guns done there.
    Good work.
I currently have a barrel being done by Brazen.

The G43 was done by middlebranch.

If you wanted the "golden gun", might be an idea. The surface hardening is going to nothing for the gun, and not sure I believe their claim of reduced friction. My recollection of TiN is that it's a rougher surface, which would increase friction, not decrease it.

Gold is the color option I would NOT chose. Black is the same cost. I am more interested in the increased durability.

Black would be TiC or CrN, not TiN. TiN is gold at all thicknesses and painting it is not well advised.

Despite their apparent roughnesses, unpolished TiN and other CVD/PVD coatings usually have slow motion, lower force, coefficients of friction an order of magnitude lower than other types of firearms coatings and bare metal surfaces. The friction advantage of CVD/PVD coatings diminish as contact forces increase, such as the interior of a gun barrel.

I had mine coated because I like the way it looks. I wanted it to be different. I just recently had another barrel coated so I could tell it apart from my other barrel ( G23/G32 )
I guess I just really like the look of the titanium nitride.
