There is only one SHTF rifle, AK-47. Nothing stops it, it is very easy to fix, and it is quite powerful! The AK has been battle tested for over 60 years all over the world. There is some quote from Mikhail Kalishnakov that says something like, "I will gladly shake the hand of the person who designs a better assault rifle than mine" He hasn't had to shake any hands yet. Even US special forces have used the AK in combat. When you need a gun that can survive any conditions and go bang everytime the AK is your best choice.
ETA: For a handgun I would probably go with my CZ-52 chambered in 7.62x25, it is high velocity and straight trajectory. You would have the potential for range with this caliber and it will shoot through soft body armour. The velocity on this cartridge is 1600 FPS or more.

It's easy to fix if you have a machine shop and many things can stop it from working.
