This has probably been discussed before, but I'm new to guns and this site. I have a Glock 19 that I love to shoot at the indoor range. I've applied and am waiting for my CPL. I'm 5'4' tall and am looking for ideas on concealed carry. I've gotten differing views as to whether my Glock will be too big for me to conceal, and someone suggested today that I purchase a small revolver for carry. Like I've said I'm brand new to all of this with plenty to learn so I would appreciate any and all ideas.

First off welcome to the site. Second off if you are comfortable with the G19 don't let others talk you into what 'you're supposed' to do.You have made a wise choice in my opinion. As far as what is 'the best way', that is kind of like 'what is the best color'. It's going to depend on a lot of factors including your style of dress and how discreet it has to be.

There are a few ladies here that will help you plenty. There is also another lady (Tote'ngranny) that has experience in carrying the exact same gun. She will help to give you some ideas. Just keep your eye on this thread.

First of all, :welcome: to MGO! We're really glad to have you here.

I don't know if you caught it, but we actually have a sub forum called "The Woman's Stance" where I think you'll find all sorts of useful threads full of information.

And whenever you have questions like this one, I know some of our female members will be glad to answer or take you out shooting.

Welcome aboard!! I keep my G19 home with a TLR1 for HD or my Mossy 20 gauge SG. I carry a M&P9C IWB Raven holster with an extra mag because I have small frame, 120 lbs. I DO NOT care for revolvers for several reasons...not enough rounds. The typical revolver that almost all women get talked into are the airweights, and in my opinion have too much recoil to be effective for consecutive shot placements. Also these revolvers all too often have too heavy of a trigger pull. I just recently bought a S&W .380 Bodyguard for deeper concealment. Here are some threads that I have resonded on that might help you....

Please buy a gun that YOU feel comfortable and safe with.

They can conceal pretty much anything. Of course that isn't much help when it's 90 degrees with 200% humidity. I have found that (unflattering but functional) style of shirt that is 'poofy' with elastic at the waist. Sort of 'tuck it in' under your holster and you're good to go. I prefer an outside waist band holster and these cover it all up.

This is what I am talking about.

I have three of them. They are cool and comfortable, wash well and conceal well. Oh, did I mention the price is right.

Agreed! The G19 is one gun that I will never part with for several reasons, even though I do not use it as my primary carry. It is too large for me, but it is so reliable, will shoot any ammo, seemingly without fail. I have small hands and the Glock grip is too big to properly grip the gun correctly... I will be eventually sending it to Ben at Boresight for an *Extreme Grip Reduction*. It will be costly, but I see this as an investment that could save my life.

You (DJKnight ) might want to put a light on your's like I did in case of a home invasion at night. This way, you will have both hands on your gun and you can easily activate the light, splashing of walls so that you can safely make your way around your home and to be able to identify who/what is in your home before firing. My G19 w/TLR1 light sits on my bed, holstered in a Raven, Moss. 20 gauge near my bed, as well and a M&P9C on me. I was asked last night by a club member if I carry all the time... I said "Absolutely. You can't pick the time when a BG might approach you" I could see his mind working...like he needs to rethink his safety, as he did comment that it would take him 10 minutes to get his gun. I said, "In that case, you would be dead"

Eh, my wife laughed...but, then, she has a sense of humor (and carries a 1911 .45 strong side IWB and/or a .380 in either a cross draw or a thigh holster, depending upon her manner of dress).

It's possible, I suppose, she was also laughing at the fact that it is I who usually does the family laundry...and the grocery shopping...when I'm not too busy out hunting and gathering or dragging her by the hair into the cave, that is.

I dunno... that looks nice, well made. I am concerned that the gun could drop out too easily from the looks of it. Not enough retention to hold it to draw quickly/safely. I could be wrong.

The Smart Carry has the gun on a cant, downward, but this is *pointing* Somebody could grip it wrong .... and bang .... someone could get shot.
