Gale at Total Firearms (http://www.totalgunshop.net) in the Lansing area is real good with a 1911.

In SE Michigan, Marianne Carniak is a good choice for a 1911 custom smith. Her father, Russ Carniak, started the business years ago and Marianne took to it like a fish to water. She did some nice work for me a few years ago on a Para Ordnance P12-45. 248-528-1552

I'm not sure where you're located at, but I know a guy over in the Hartland area. Very good guy. E-mail me if you'd like his cantact info.

Works been slow for the past couple weeks so this project is gonna get put off for awhile.

Maybe I can work it out as a x-mas present to Me!?!

My Kimber is there right now - getting a bullseye trigger job. Eric said they work on 3000 guns a year there. He also said he is on the US Olympic shooting team - not that it makes them good gunsmiths.

You may wish to consider William's Gunsight in Davison. They have been around forever. I had a doubling problem with the Colt Government Model I've had since 1971 and they fixed the rounded hammer/sear condition that caused it. Two weeks and $66.

I don't know if that is good or bad; just the only experience I've had with gunsmithing services.

Doug Jones in Auburn Hills does a lot of work including accu-rails.

Another vote for Marianne Carniak .
She did a great job on my KIMBER.
