hey, this is my first post on here. I recently got a sears and roebuck .22 from a family friend passing away. he didin't know anything about firearms and apparently he bought it in 1972 for home defense. it sat in his closet wrapped in a towel and was never fired for 38 years. I got it and took it up north and put a few rounds through it. (it shot beautifully)

i'm wondering if anyone can help me identify it and give me a value

its the semi auto, i have the original scope sold with it. The magazine is a tube that runs up the bottom of the barrel. all wood stock. perfect condistion. literally like a brand new gun.

any info would be appreciated. thanks.

its easier if you post a picture or two, and include any/all wording you find ANYWHERE on the rifle...

I had one of those that Marlin made IIRC. Same as the Marlin 60. Should be worth anywhere from $75 to $125.

Pictures and a better description will help.

I have a Sears & Roebuck Model 43 bolt action .22 that I bought around 1970 and just recently scoped. It cross references to a Marlin 81 and is in great shape. I love shooting it. Great plinker.

Since you didn't post specifics, I'll leave it to you to figure out. Marlin made a gazillion of these as "house brands" for various retailers over the years. WHO DAT was most likely correct in stating it's an older Model 60. This info comes from the RimFireCentral Forum on this thread (http://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=355471) just found today. Hope it's helpful.
