I was cleaning out my basement and found the coolest thing ever! Not only did I find old reloading equipment, but I found a Nydar model 47 optical gunsight. It has a manual and everything in the box, but I don't know much about it... any experience with it? All I know is that it is OLD!

Cool find. It's like the grandaddy of reddot sights.

mine is a little different than those two, the mounting plate has a flat bottom instead of curved... Were they made for different types of guns? like break action, pump, semi's?

They probably had different bases to fit various receiver contours. That is a very interesting find.

I have one mounted on a Browning A5. Pretty cool stuff. Manufactured from the 1930s until after WWII. The original dot sight.

Definately not something I was expecting to find! I like it though, and I will probably mount it and use it! I also found a bunch of bullets of various calibers, some bullet pullers, an old press, and 2 scales.
