Yugo sks, 2 tapco 20 rnd mags, and leather sling

Depending on the condition, from what I've seen over the last few years, somewhere between $150 -$300

Is that a good used price?

is the Yugo recommended as far as SKS's go?

I'm going to plink with the SKS I get but really I want it for deer hunting in the rifle areas.

From my experiance with SKS's the Norinco's have much tighter tolerances and generally look better too.

Also, the Norinco has a chrome barell and spike bayonet wheras the yugo does not.

In my opinion, the Yugo is the entry level SKS. They are a bit looser than Norinkos/Russians but are usually cheaper cost.

I've had two and both are steady and reliable plinkers. I chopped one up to build a Tacticool toy out of, just to see if I could do it. I've never shot it over 50 yards though, so I'll leave the answer about using it for a deer rifle to someone else. Up to 50 yards, it is as accurate as any other rifle/shotgun I've ever used...

I have owned a Russian SKS at least 3 Chinese ones and 2 Yugo's.The Russian ones are nice.IMO the Chinese are not any nicer than the Yugo's.The Yugo's are the heaviest of the 3.As far as accuracy goes I did not see enough of a difference to choose one over the other.I ended up selling them all but my very first Yugo 59/66.When I bought it,it looked to be unissued. It took many hours to clean it of cosmoline.I paid $189 for it and 1000 rounds of Brown Bear ammo at the gun show in Lansing, picked it up around 2002 or 2003.If I decided to sell it I would ask around $300,but I will not sell it.td

Looking for clues on how to get the gernade adaptor off( I ran out of gerandes 42 years ago) and links to manuals, etc. I don't believe I'll be needing the bayonet either.

Thanks,
joen

I picked up a Yugo 59/66 last year at a gun show for $175 (in pretty good condition). I like the gun, but I was wondering about using it for a deer rifle, but would that be legal??? It comes with the ten round mag, so I was planning on taking that off, and using a tapco 5rd removable mag, but would that violate 922r, if I didn't change anything else? :flamethr:
