My girlfriend and I were out hunting tonight, slight wind, a lot cooler than the past few times, pretty decent night. I was actually browsing MGO when she said, "Ben, deer!" in a hushed voice. I looked up and a nice large doe was about to walk into my shooting path. I had out buck lure, and she had her head to the ground, and then picked it up and lip curled to sniff the air. This had me worried it might be a young buck, but after looking for bumps on her head, the size of her, and the lack of tarsal glands, I was quite confident she wasn't a he. I put the pin on her chest and let the arrow fly. She took off like lightning and piled up 50 yards from my buddy in his tree stand. http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1088/5127781236_3925725b1c_z.jpg

that looks to be his gear.

congratulations!
one tip I can offer in identifying doe vs fawn/button buck is to look at the overall shape of the animal. a fawn/BB will look "square bodied" a mature doe will look "rectangle" with a longer neck and head.

Congrat Jackle, that was a good night for taking deer! Perfect calm and cool weather after the crazy windstorm. Deer were moving early in the afternoon.

Got her all cut up last night. We do our own processing, it's my deer, I took care of it, and our ground venison is practically ground steak

Into the freezer it goes!!
