Got my first crossbow deer today and its the biggest buck I have ever shot. Shot with a Barnett 150 crossbow with 125 gr Rage broadheads. Deer moved after I shot so it ended up hitting it just behind the lungs in the middle abdomen. Only went 20 yards.

Shot in the woods behind my house. Only deer I have seen all season

Not a bad deer for the ONLY one you have seen all year! That was worth the boring hunts without seeing a thing I am sure!

Nice bike and garage setup behind the deer btw. I didn't notice it until after I posted. I guess this deer is too nice to take a look at the rest of the picture.

Its actually a customers bike, I work on bikes as a side job. Thanks, I just built the pole barn this summer.

Very nice buck. Congratulations to you. What'd he weigh? How far was the shot?

Shot was 25-30 yards threading between trees in a pop up ground blind, most difficult shot on a deer I have actually taken. I don't shoot unless I think I have a clean shot.

I don't have a scale but it was too much for me to pick up and put on the rack of my quad, had to run back and get my little trailer. Has to be very high 100's.

I shot this guy this morning. Him and another bigger buck were in the area, but the bigger one was leaving and wouldn't give me an opening. I would have regretted it if I didn't take the shot.

Congrats......Judging by the hole, I'm guessing the Rage 2-blade ? Still trying to decide if I want to try them.

Yep, the rage 2 blade. It sure did its job, made a surgical slice and the arrow went 10 yards past the deer. Caught him just behind the last rib, looks to be further back when he is hanging.

I was aiming for the heart but he took a step forward when he heard the noise of the bow, I'll be looking into some type of string silencer for next year.

Nice anamials... both of you.
After all the bad things people say about Barnetts, you proved them wrong. I love it.
Of course you did prove them right that anybody with a crossbow will kill everything in sight. Our deer heard is doomed. :)

Congratulations on some fine animals gentlemen.

I'm getting hungry just looking at them.

Congrats Man! Are you getting him mounted? If so....next time dont hang him by the neck, use the antlers otherwise he'll probably have a ring around the neck on the wall.

Nice deer anyways....and just curious...do you use the crossbow by choice, or forced to by injury?

Thanks! And thanks for the advice, this year I am just going to mount the antlers as I have a baby on the way in January and did not want to spend the money on taxidermy.

I used my crossbow because the blind I was using was a ground blind. I had been seeing good signs in that area and decided to try out my crossbow rather than waiting for rifle season. I still have yet to see a good buck when hunting with a regular bow, but that is on my list for next year. We have a narrow, long 80 acres between my father and I that can be tricky to hunt at times. I also cut a lot of firewood in the fall which I am sure scares away some deer.

Just had my first steak and it wasn't gamey at all, surprised me a bit for such a big deer. The jerky was also excellent.
