...but I did fill the freezer. I took a nice doe last Friday (Oct. 29). My birthday is today, the 31st, so I wanted to tag one as a gift to myself and also make sure I had meat before going after the antlers. I had a passed on a few spikes and smaller does the week before.

And the weapon of choice... :pistols:

The sad part is, this guy was taken a few hundred yards away where I have a stand I sometimes use for gun season.

I was obviously joking people! I had already put my bow away and didn't feel like getting it back out for a picture. It was taken at about 27 yards with my PSE Nova compound I bought around 3 years ago. Not the most expensive bow, but it does the job!

Congratulations on the doe. I took one the same night.

The "obviouosly" wasn't clear in your post. Simply using a smiley doesn't cut it.

Congrats!

Oops. I guess I just figured that everyone would know it was a joke because it is bow season and it is a M&P compact, not like a .357 or .44 mag in my hand. I guess there are many idiots who do use guns in bow season though, so my bad!

Next time I'll take a picture with the LCP so it will be more obvious! I also created this thread in the Non-Firearm Hunting section for a reason. :silly:

In all seriousness though, thanks for the congrats Miked and Jackle. I hope all of us MGO'ers can fill our freezers with some lean, free range, and organic meat this season!

DIDN'T MEAN ANYTHING, LIKE YOU SAID THERE ARE PEOPLE WHO SNEAK THE GUN OUT DURING BOW SEASON. EVEN CAUGHT A GUY SHOOTING A DOE WITH HIS 9MM FROM ONE OF MY TREE STANDS UP NORTH A FEW YEARS BACK.
CONGRATS ON THE DOE SHOULD EAT REAL GOOD. SHOOT A 14 IN 7 PT ON SATURDAY MYSELF AND JUST GOT BACK FROM TRACKING MY SONS FIRST BOW KILL A SMALL 6 PT, SHOOT IT AT 7YDS.

I will be eating venison this week for the first time in way too long. I hope she tastes good! I am going to pick up one more tag and try to get another before the year is up.

Do many of you try to get 2 deer each season or does 1 deer last you all year? We go through it fast here in my family.

We eat as many deer as we kill. Pretty much use it sparingly or for special occasions, the steaks at least. We have had as many as 3 in a year, and ate pretty much all of it :)
