a few possible causes...

- the "backstrap" safety has been altered, or else broke of a piece.

- the trigger (if adjustable) has been adjusted WAY TOO FRCKEN FAR...
( it renders the safety/sear unsafe to do so...) Back out the screw a few
full turns andtry it...

- mainstring might have broke ( or one of the finger springs...)

Is this a stock gun? have you replaced anything? Did you strip it down and
re-assemble lately?

I would contact the manufacturer or have it looked at by a good gunsmith.

Some Bozo made some mods to the pistol. I'm sure you bought it used. Looks like the trigger has been replaced also.

If you just bought it new send it back to the manufacturer ASAP.

Devin,
Bring it on over and I ll take a look at it for you. I am starting to take new orders also, so you should have gotten an email from Lynn last night ( I know you are on the waiting list ). Give me a call Monday and I can take a few minutes to look at it when you have the time to swing by.
This isn't the one you were showing me at the range last time ( I don't think it was ).

Thanks
Todd

Hard to tell with the trigger, but it looks factory.

It looks like the trigger has round holes into it. At least that's what my eyes are telling me.

Todd,

I appreciate that bud but I already sent it back to para for them to take a look at it. And I will be giving you a call on monday about getting my kimber in along with a few other things.

Interestingly, another Para owner submitted a video of his malfunctioning grip safety. In his case, the gun will not fire when the grip safety is depressed.

With them nice Kimbers, why bother with the Para? They make a kit to eliminate the grip safety, you should have considered it a bonus that it didn't work. The gun will not fire unless you press the trigger, which is the last thing you do before you destroy the target anyways.......

You did the right thing by sending it in, hope your CS with Para turns out better than mine did!!

I used to have a Kimber and I had a gunsmith alter the grip safety so it would fire with a looser grip, this helped me in some I.P.S.C matches where I had to shoot with my weak hand.

How does one know that the gun will fire without compressing the grip??

Mine has a grip safety, but I sure never held the gun in such a way as to not compress it while firing/attempting to fire it. Ill bet it jumps like hell when it fires and is held, lightly. What happens to the next round. Does it fire. also, at WHO??

No thank you.
