What do you guys think about the Taurus .45's?

I'm thinking of upgrading my everyday carry pistol from 9mm to .45. I know of a "like new" Taurus .45 for a good deal.

I have Taurus PT 945 It was my first carry gun. I have put several thousand rounds through it and I have not had any problem with it.

When I first got it new I could not get it to group well no matter what load I tried. After about 300 or so rounds I was ready to chuck it in the river. Then one day I was at the range with some other guns and I decides I woulds shoot up all the 45 acp I had left some where between 400 and 500 rounds it started shooting one hole groups now after several thousand rounds it is one of the most accurate pistols I own.

What I found was it is a bit big to hide for summer carry so I bought a .380 for summer and carried the Taurus 45 in winter.
Then I bought a Kahr K 40 for carry year round.

Sadly as I type this the Kahr is out of commission waiting on parts and the Taurus 45 is on my hip.

If you get one dont give up on accurcy till after 500 rounds. Also I have found that it doesnt like aftermarket mags I have tried both Pro Mag and USA mags.

This is the one I have

Take a look at the 24/7 line of Taurus pistols on their website.

GunTests rated them VERY highly (great mag, consumer reports style -- no advertising of firearms allowed) to the point that they questioned the need for the .45 GAP.

I tend to agree with them. If you are going to carry a .45, then carry a .45 dammit!

It is a full size gun, 12+1 DAO without the typical oversize grips of the G21 or other high cap. .45's. 13 rounds of .45 with the configuration / size of a polymer .40

Check it out.

I looked at the Taurus, not a bad piece..... I then looked at the Springfields. I picked up a Micro compact (officers) model Milspec for a little over $400. The gun is tight. Out of the box I am shooting 3" groups at 50'. Gun came with "cool" wood grips with "U.S." cut into the checkering. I found that those grips are not good for carrying. Put a nice set of Houge's on it.
Just my 2 cents worth.....
